Your Eco-Friendly Rainforest Retreat!

Step into the heart of nature with Lyrebird Gully, an off-grid escape nestled in Foxground's lush rainforest. This one-acre sanctuary, powered by solar with battery and generator backup, is a peaceful and eco-conscious getaway.
Lyrebird Gully is just two hours south of Sydney. Perfectly positioned for a coastal escape, it’s only 10–15 minutes from the pristine sands of Werri Beach and the charming historic town of Berry. Whether you’re seeking a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature or easy access to local attractions, Lyrebird Gully provides the ideal base for your adventures.
Preserving Charm, Embracing Sustainability
Lyrebird House, one of the smallest cottages in the area, was lovingly restored to maintain its original charm while minimising environmental impact. Instead of demolishing, the cottage was renovated using sustainable materials and practices to create an eco-friendly gem.
Eco-Conscious Features:
Natural Climate Control: The cottage stays cool in summer and warm in winter, complemented by a rustic sandstone fireplace.
Rainwater Collection: All water is rain-harvested and stored in tanks, emphasising mindful usage.
Off-Grid Power: Solar panels with battery and generator backup provide eco-friendly electricity.
Sunlight and Shelter: Northeast-facing windows let sunlight pour in, while trees offer natural shade from the wind.
A Cozy, Nature-Inspired Interior
Inside, you'll find comfy chairs and sofa, rugs, and a window seat that frames serene forest views. The main bedroom offers a king-size bed, while the second bedroom has a queen bed with views to enjoy nature's beauty.
Reconnect with Nature
Part of the Illawarra Rainforest, Lyrebird Gully is surrounded by towering trees, lush ferns, and diverse plant life. With some rainforest trees over 60 years old, this regenerating forest shows nature's cycle of growth and renewal.
A Journey of Restoration
Over 12 months, with help from an eco-minded builder, the original structure was preserved and transformed into a sustainable retreat. Recycled materials, preloved furniture, and curated treasures infuse Lyrebird Gully with unique charm and an eco-friendly spirit.
Spectacular Forest Views
Upstairs, larger windows open up panoramic views of the rainforest canopy. Sunlight and shadow dance through the trees, and the forest's vines and epiphytes create a breathtaking, lush landscape.
